Cherry Almond Smoothie

Cherry Almond Smoothie
Frozen cherries are a great fruit to keep on hand for snacks and quick desserts! Ideal for smoothies, cherries are naturally sweet, the frozen whole black cherries are fairly inexpensive, and store for months in your freezer. If you use fresh cherries, chill before serving.

Serves 2

1 cup frozen or fresh pitted cherries
1 cup non-fat, plain yogurt
8 ice cubes
1/4 cup toasted whole almonds
2 tablespoons ground flax
2 tablespoon granulated sugar or honey
1 teaspoon almond extract

In a blender or food processor, blend all ingredients until smooth. Serve immediately.

  1. So for each breakfast item 1 serving would be the 200 calories. Is that correct? So I could split this recipe in half and it would equal out to one serving at 200 calories? Is that how the breakfast, lunch and dinner items are organized ….by serving = 200 calories

    • Each of the bonus recipes are provided for additional variety – see the nutritional stats below the recipe? This particular recipe makes about two cups and clocks in at 273 calories. So to make it around 200 calories, you would use 2/3 of the recipe ingredients. Makes sense?
